Dear Customer, We are excited to announce the introduction of Marathon III. It represents a quantum leap forward in the
development of dwarf tall fescues, one that will finally meet your expectations regarding fewer clippings and reduced mowing frequency. The breeding of dwarfs has been ongoing for the past fifteen years. During that time many
advertising claims have been made prematurely regarding slower growth and resulting in less maintenance. Confusing terms such as "double dwarf" have created unfulfilled expectations. Marathon III delivers!
Enclosed is a newly released tall fescue study done at U.C.R during September 1994. This one month summer snapshot shows our variety, Shortcut (the only component of Marathon III) to be greatly superior in a number of categories including: Leaf Extension Rate (Table 11), Leaf Density, Length, and Width (Table 12), and Clipping Yield (Table 10). The study cautions that the "...data represent only one season, and turfs were grown in pots under well-watered conditions." We agree that study duration, season,
maintenance, and environmental conditions influence study results. Nevertheless, we have observed similar characteristics as well as darker green color in our own year around field evaluations.
Marathon III (Shortcut) has been a consistent favorite in our observations. We think you will be very pleased with Marathon III's refined look and slower growth as well as its practical benefit of less clipping disposal
year around and less mowing frequency particularly in winter.
