Brief Description:
Much shorter blades and closer node spacing than common St. Augustine. Darker green, denser and lower growing for a more attractive appearance. Slower to establish and repair itself. Stems become reddish in color when semi-dormant. Other characteristics (including shade tolerance, thatching, concrete border containment and winter dormancy) are the same as common St. Augustine.

Recommended Use:
Use where shade tolerance is the top priority and enhanced appearance and slower growth are desired.

Areas of Best Adaptability:
SoLow Dwarf St. Augustine is well suited to Southern California's varying soils and climate. It is most often used where mature trees or shade from buildings block sufficient sunlight for other varieties.

Winter Color:
 Dormant

Mowing Height:
Three quarter inch high, mowed weekly.

Thatch:
Moderate thatch build-up in full sun; minimal thatch in shade. Requires dethatching every two years, depending on amount of sun.
